The Sunset Date!

There's a reason sunsets are almost always associated with romance. They are romantic in every way, shape and form! Warm sun, cool breeze, beautiful colors, reflecting lights and casting shadows. Sunsets bring romantic appeal to every location you can imagine. For those of you willing to put forth a little effort, a Sunset Date could be your perfect date filled with rest, relaxation and romance!

Our personal preference for a Sunset Date is a secluded beach with the sun setting over the water, but there are indeed many favorable and memorable locations to choose from. Mountains, Valleys, Canyons & Mesas all provide wonderful locations for a romantic evening Sunset Date. In fact, just about any location that has visibility to the distant sky will no doubt provide you with a romantic setting for a Sunset Date. The depth in visibility will provide you with an opportunity to see the distant colors, the sun actually setting and the associated sun rays as they shoot through the clouds above.

As with any outdoor activity, proper planning is essential. When it comes to Sunset Dates, a little extra planning may be necessary. Make sure the evening will not be a rainy, wet and/or overcast day. Many Sunset Dates may begin with warm weather, but for obvious reasons they tend to end with much cooler weather even if it remains dry. If you or your honey is anything like mine, a shadow from a bird flying above can bring cold chills unless you are in Florida or the southwest with 85 degree evenings.

For many, bringing a sweater or jacket would be considered "being prepared", but if you really want to make things special, go for a little more! Having a few additional items with you will make things much more comfortable and relaxing for both of you. The additional items, of course, will depend on your particular location and the duration of time you plan on staying before and after the sunset. Some additional items you may wish to consider bringing are as follows:

1. Folding chairs or air mattress.

2. Blankets & pillows.

3. Robes & warm slippers.

4. Cooler/Thermos for drinks.

5. Bottle opener, if necessary.

6. Sunglasses, if necessary.

7. Umbrella or canopy to reduce sun exposure.

8. Sunscreen so you don't become "untouchable" in the evening.

9. Portable radio or music playlist on your phone (relaxing music to set the mood).

10. Snacks to keep the hunger away, but not messy or complicated snacks.

11. Bottle of wine and glasses (if not prohibited in your selected location).

12. A camera or cell with camera included.

Enjoying the moments together makes your time together special. Capturing pictures of some of those special moments definitely makes remembering them much easier down the road, but don't get caught up in the paparazzi way of life by living behind the lens. A few pictures here and there will be more than enough for remembering and sharing later. Just make sure you spend most of your time enjoying the moments together rather than trying to catch them in frames.
